Each spring, Presbyterian Medical Services (PMS), the largest nonprofit health and human services agency serving New Mexico, celebrates employee excellence by recognizing those who have made an outstanding contribution to the organization, and by extension, their community.

Statewide, PMS employs approximately 1,400 people. A select few are recognized during the annual PMS Employee Award process.

This year, six employees associated with Artesia Family Health Center were recognized. Steve Hansen, PMS president CEO, presented the awards June 1 in Artesia.

Diane Jones, medical director, received a “Be The Best” award.

“Diane sets a positive example, arriving each day with a smile and remaining positive throughout the day,” PMS stated in a release. “She encourages others around her to be positive, as well. Diane treats her patients with the same generosity of spirit as her coworkers. She creates a team environment among all staff and encourages teamwork across all programs (medical, dental and behavioral health) at Artesia Family Health Center.

“Because of Diane’s positive outlook and encouragement, staff is able to create an environment where patients know they are cared about. Diane inspires our growing staff to deliver outstanding healthcare.”

The dental team of Artesia Family Health Center is the recipient of the Team Talent award.

“The dental team consistently works together with a positive attitude, allowing the dentist to see many patients in a pleasant environment,” the release states. “Each member of the team helps to move the patients smoothly through the various steps of their dental experience. Each member is instrumental to the success of the program.”

Artesia Family Health Center is located at 1105 Memorial Drive in Artesia. The center provides primary care services, dental care, and behavioral healthcare to the community. Appointments are accepted at 746-9848.

All PMS federally qualified health centers are Joint Commission-accredited and accept patients regardless of ability to pay. Payment options include Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance. For those who are uninsured, payment is on a sliding fee scale based on income.
