4-10-PruittLaurie Pruitt has declared her candidacy for the office of Eddy County treasurer.

Pruitt has worked for Eddy County for the past four-and-a-half years, the last three in the treasurer’s office as deputy treasurer/accounting technician. She is a certified New Mexico Property Appraiser, has 10 years of banking experience, and is working on her certification as a New Mexico Treasury Official.

“I believe the citizens of Eddy County deserve to be treated with the utmost respect and be helped in a prompt and efficient manner, whether it be in person, telephone, or by email,” Pruitt said. “I want to educate taxpayers about their rights and responsibilities as property owners.

“I will be spending time in the Artesia office regularly, so I can be accessible to all county residents to answer their questions and concerns.”

As treasurer, Pruitt says she would manage the financial resources of Eddy County effectively through sound investment of public funds, stressing safety, liquidity, and maximum yield.

Pruitt has lived in Carlsbad her entire life and is married to Maurice “Mo” Pruitt, formerly of Artesia.

“Working closely with our current treasurer regarding our investments, reconciling multiple bank statements, accounting of all interest payments, and preparing the distribution of funds has qualified me to do the job,” said Pruitt. “I am very excited to take on the responsibility as your county treasurer and believe my knowledge and experience will benefit Eddy County.”
