TO THE EDITOR:

Everybody is in a hurry these days but an especially big hurry at the holidays.

Seems like this was the worst time to start up the next big road construction project on a major road in Artesia. We’ve waited this long, why not have waited until after this busy season is over. But since it’s too late for that, can our city officials do something about the nuisance turn arrow at 13th Street and Main Street?

The west-facing one shouldn’t come on at all anymore, and the east-facing one should only be on if someone is actually turning. Then go off once they’ve turned like the light did before, and like the light at Seventh Street and Main Street still does. There is already more traffic on Main Street since people are looking for a way around 13th Street. It gets backed up fast.

Again: It’s a busy season. It would help if we didn’t have to sit and sit and sit waiting for nobody at all to turn.
