TO THE EDITOR:

We just want to say how excited we were to attend the Zia choir concert Thursday.

The music was very good, and the kids sang it well. They looked just like little professional singers – their posture was straight, they watched their conductor, and their timing was in perfect order.

As one choir would move offstage, another moved on, so it was fast-paced, and we didn’t have to do much waiting at all. The director, Patty Schafer, was very good, and so was the accompanist.

The concert brought back a lot of nice memories for us, because our two oldest kids were among the first performers in the auditorium when it was first built. All five of our kids performed there and two of our grandkids, and we were at the concert Thursday night because our great-granddaughter was performing.

It is wonderful that our school board and the Artesia Public Schools still strongly support music and the arts in our schools.

Thank you for a wonderful evening!

The Lonnie Jordans
