The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will host a public information meeting this week to provide an update on the Phase 1 A/B Location Study of the portion of U.S. 285 from Loving to the Texas state line.

The study area consists of U.S. 285 from mile markers 0 to 22 in Eddy County. Members of the public are invited to attend, view the location study presentation, ask questions, and provide feedback.

The meeting is scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 22, in the Loving High School Lecture Hall, 602 S. Sixth St., Loving.

The NMDOT and study team representatives will present an update on the study, which provides an engineering and environmental analysis of the roadway’s existing conditions and alternatives for improvement. Information on the purpose of and need for the project, road and geotechnical conditions, traffic modeling, bridge structure, drainage, and access/turnouts will also be discussed.
