The public safety officials of North Eddy County would like to thank the Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest –Artesia Service Unit Troops 20009, 20007 and 20879 – for providing them with lunch last week. “All of the young ladies were so helpful and courteous,” said Cmdr. Lindell Smith of the Artesia Police Department. “It was a pleasure to spend some time with them.” The departments would also like to extend their thanks to the leaders of the troops. “Good role models and examples are often what young people growing up today need,” said Smith. “Whether one is involved in scouting or some other service organization, there is something to be learned about the world today by being involved in activities. And when parents are involved, stay informed, and remain active in children’s lives, the kids learn even more, and scouting is a way for all of that to happen.”
