Sue Prude, right, looks over goodies being sold Friday morning at First American Bank by Angie Rodriquez, April Carrasco, Cheryl Bartlett and Autherean Prude to benefit Artesia’s Relay for Life, set to take place Aug. 10 and 11 at Martin Luther King Jr. Park. Relay for Life both raises cancer awareness and helps fund cancer research. Artesia’s event is still accepting team registrations at www.relayforlife.org/artesianm and looking for cancer survivors wishing to participate. Survivors may contact Bartlett at 513-1375. Organizers are also collecting canned goods to fill luminaria bags. Canned goods may be dropped off at First American Bank. Anyone interested in purchasing a luminaria in honor or memory of a loved one may contact Lucy at 703-4997. Rob Larson - Daily Press
