Roselawn Elementary School third-grade teacher Leslie Catano stands with one of the library book display boards created by students as part of a project for the school’s upcoming Reading Fair. In partnership with SD Services, Roselawn will host the fair from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25. “I want books to come to life for my students,” said Catano, who organized the reading initiative. “I want them to get excited about reading!” Each student was provided a board by SD Services on which they “broke apart” a specific book, including criteria such as setting, plot, characters and genre. The “take home” project also encouraged parent involvement. The boards will be on display at the Reading Fair. The public is invited to attend. Pizza and drinks will be provided by SD Services.
