Leotta Talbert

Roswell police say they’re still searching for an elderly woman who disappeared early this month from a local hospital.

Leotta Talbert, 80, left Eastern New Mexico Medical Center Dec. 3 prior to being formally discharged. She suffers from the onset of dementia and is considered endangered if not located.

Members of New Mexico’s Civil Air Patrol assisted in the search Friday by piloting fixed-wing aircraft to cover a several-hundred-square-mile area around Roswell. Earlier efforts have included ground searches along many area roads and aerial searches by a New Mexico State Police helicopter.

Video surveillance showed Talbert leaving ENMMC Dec. 3, getting in her vehicle – a 2011 white Ford Fiesta bearing New Mexico plate 502SBM – and driving away. Investigation determined she did not have any credit or debit cards, or a cell phone with her. She may be carrying a limited amount of cash.

Talbert is described as 5’7” tall with blue eyes and white hair.

Anyone with information as to her whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Roswell Police Department at 624-6770.
