The Eastern New Mexico Golf Association’s (ENMSGA) initial tournament of 2016 occurred Tuesday, March 8, at New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell.

Ninety-four players enjoyed a great tournament, thanks to golf pro Crae Fields, Gary Doerhoefer and the rest of their staff, and Mike Jackson, our tournament chairman. We had eight new members that played to set their association handicap and two guest players. Schlotzsky’s Deli provided the meal following the golf.

Tournament results are as follows, with net prize awards accounting for handicaps:

First Flight

Low Gross: Lee Goddard, Carlsbad, 71; Low Net: David Porter, Artesia, 73; 2nd Low Net: James Boss, Roswell, 73; 3rd Low Net: Jeff Moore, Clovis, 73

Second Flight

In the Doylex Cup race – the ENMSGA’s season-long player pool – four points are awarded for Low Gross and Low Net, three for Second Low Net, two for Third Low Net, and all other players are awarded one point. After just one tournament, the 14 players that captured a first-place finish are tied for first.

The next tournament will be held Tuesday, April 12, at Riverside Country Club in Carlsbad.
