Six Lady Bulldogs named to All-District teams

Six members of the 2017-18 Lady Bulldog basketball team have been named to the District 4-AAAAA All-District rosters.

Lady ‘Dog senior Gracie Puentes was named Co-MVP of D4, along with Goddard’s Camarynn Villlpando.

Puentes leads Artesia in scoring with 356 total points on the year, and has more than 100 rebounds and 20-plus steals to her credit.

Senior Stacia Martinez was also named to the First Team. Martinez has 162 points this year, and more than 80 rebounds, 70-plus steals, and 50-plus assists. Joining her on the First Team are Roswell High’s Kaitlyn Holl and Cheyenne Martinez, Lovington’s Kamryn Cunningham, and Goddard’s Bailey Beene.

Junior Paityn Houghtaling – with 180 points, a team-leading 170-plus rebounds, 39 steals, and 40-plus assists – was named to the All-District Second Team. Also on that roster are Lovington’s Rylee Mapes and Alyssa Dominguez, Roswell’s Annica Dillard, and Goddard’s Eden Wiggins.

Receiving Honorable Mention were Artesia seniors Kali Crandall and Alexa Riggs, and junior Kyrah Gonzales. Crandall has scored 136 points, brought down 80-plus rebounds, and logged 20-plus steals and assists this year; Riggs has 146 points, 40-plus steals and assists, and 30-plus rebounds; and Gonzales has posted 154 points, 40-plus rebounds, and 30-plus steals and assists.
