
Steve Cochran passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life with a memorial barbecue from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at Jaycee Park.
Steve was born April 11, 1958, in Artesia to Carrol and June (Davis) Cochran. He graduated from Lovington High School and received an associate’s degree in psychology from New Mexico Junior College.
On Oct. 25, 1980, he married Connie Griffin in Artesia.
He worked in the oil and gas industry all his life and owned Zia Consulting Inc.
An avid sportsman, Steve coached in the Artesia Little League for 18 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, deer hunting, Texas Rangers baseball, good chips and salsa, and the occasional Route 44 Diet Dr. Pepper.
Survivors include his loving wife, Connie; his mother, June Cochran, of Lubbock, Texas; sons Scott Cochran and wife Marsha of Abilene, Texas, Travis Cochran and wife Clair of Liberty City, Texas, and Joel Cochran of Lubbock; granddaughters Sydney Cochran and Bailey Cochran; and brother Wayne Cochran and wife Carol of Glen Allan, Va.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carrol Cochran.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Artesia Youth Baseball or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
