Hermosa Elementary School first-graders Tanner Patman, above, and Natalia Salmon, at right, plant flowers in celebration of Earth Day Thursday afternoon at the school. The flowers were donated by Hermosa’s Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), and each first-grader was able to plant their own. “Even though we’re outside today, we’re still going to learn,” said Pam Willever, first-grade teacher, to the students. “It would be really nice if we could plant some flowers to help our Earth.”
