The Artesia Police Department is investigating a tasing and purse snatching incident that took place Thursday morning on Quay Avenue.
According to the APD, the crime occurred around 8 a.m. Thursday in the area of the 400 block of Quay. A woman was reportedly tased by an unknown assailant and her purse taken. No arrests have been made, and descriptions received by the APD of the suspect and associated vehicles have varied.
“The detectives will continue to work leads as they come in,” said Cmdr. Lindell Smith. “Citizens should remain aware of their surroundings and think about remaining with a group to walk to or from their cars.
“Self-defense is always an option but must be legal and reasonable under the circumstances.”
