Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at the Meridian Civic Center for Traci Faries McWhirter of Artesia.

McWhirter, 47, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at her home.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Traci was born Jan. 21, 1971, in Coleman, Texas, the daughter of Gerald Bryan Faries and Cherry Slayton.

On Dec. 23, 1993, she married Ronald McWhirter in Coleman, and the family moved to Artesia in 2003 from Meridian, Texas.

Traci was a homemaker and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald McWhirter, of the family home; mother Cherry Slayton of Coleman; sons Cody McWhirter of El Paso, Texas, and Gage McWhirter of Hamilton, Texas; brothers Billy Berry of Coleman, Kirk Faries of Artesia, and Teddy Faries of Coleman; sister Rhonda Faries of Artesia; and grandchildren Fernando, Leonardo, Jacelyn, Matthew and Daylon.

She was preceded in death by her father; son Jimmy Whitehead; and granddaughter Jayden.

A lunch will be served prior to the service Sunday at the Civic Center.
