Two fugitives arrested during PVDTF raid, investigation ongoing

The Pecos Valley Drug Task Force arrested two fugitives Tuesday during a drug raid at three residences in Artesia.

The PVDTF executed four search warrants Tuesday at 702 N. 14th St., 922 S. Second St. and 922 1/2 S. Second St. in Artesia, the result of an investigation into methamphetamine trafficking at all three addresses.

The principal targets of the investigation were Mike Romero and Antoinette Salas. Meth, drug paraphernalia, and a semi-automatic 9mm handgun were found and seized during the searches, and felony charges of meth trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia are pending against Romero and Salas, per further investigation.

Two fugitives were also arrested on oustanding warrants during the raid. Kyla Salmon, 26, and Robert Huerta, 53, were located at 922 1/2 S. Second St. and 702

The PVDTF is comprised of officers with the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office and Artesia and Carlsbad Police Departments, and is part of the HIDTA Region VI Drug Task Force.
