A Roswell woman was arrested after stealing $283.89 worth of underclothes and shorts from Kmart yesterday.

29-year-old LeeAnn Gunnels of Roswell was arrested after a Kmart Loss Prevention Officer witnessed Gunnels stuffing items into a big black polka-dot bag inside the store. The LPO made an attempt to stop Gunnels from exiting the store, taking hold of the bag and advising her to return to the store. Gunnels refused to return to the store, continued walking and eventually let go of the bag. The LPO contacted police with information to apprehend Gunnels.

At approximately 7:25 p.m. an officer arrived at Kmart where the LPO advised Gunnels was walking in the adjacent parking lot of the Best Western Pecos Inn.

As the officer approached Gunnels, she began to run. The officer asked Gunnels to stop and get on the ground several times. Gunnels continued to flee and was witnessed running behind a white truck where she was observed bent over dropping an object. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
