
Services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 27, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Valerie Marie Fabela-Gonzales.
Fabela-Gonzales, 34, passed away June 5, 2016, at Baylor University in Dallas, Texas.
Interment will be held at Woodbine Cemetery with a gathering and slideshow to follow in the Our Lady of Grace Reception Hall. Honorary pallbearers are Tomas Gonzales III, Andy Fabela, Alex Fabela, Marcos Tavera, Mateo Tavera, Saul Peralta, Stevan Peralta, Mauricio Tavera, Jacob Fabela, Luis Mario “Peanut” Segura, Mireya Fabela, Loretta Zarazua, Maribel Zarazua and Aubriela Fabela.
Valerie was born in Odessa, Texas, to Elizabeth Fabela and the late Andres Fabela Jr. She was a lifelong resident of Artesia, graduating with the Artesia High School Class of 2000.
She enjoyed spending time with her children, family and friends. She also enjoyed listening to music, laughing, and the Dallas Cowboys. Valerie will be remembered for her radiant smile, laughter, warm personality, and caring heart. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her three children, Tomas Gonzales III, Mireya Y. Fabela and Luis M. Segura III, all of Artesia; her mother, Liz Fabela, of Artesia; sisters Andria Tavera and husband Jason, and Chrisy Fabela, both of Artesia; brothers Andres Fabela III and Elida Gomez, and Alex Fabela, both of Artesia; aunt Michelle Stevens; great-grandmother Tina Fabela; grandmother Manuela Parra; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and her significant other, Mario Segura.
