The Department of Energy (DOE) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) held a “stakeholders” meeting Tuesday in Carlsbad at the Skeen-Whitlock Building at which an application was presented that would allow the recertification of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).
The EPA must certify the WIPP’s compliance due to the Land Withdrawal Act (LWA) of 1992, which requires recertification of the facility every five years. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
