The Artesia 3:16 youth baseball team will be waiting tables for tips this week to help defray expenses for the season.

The squad competed in three 8-and-under coach pitch and three 9-and-under player pitch tournaments all across Southeast New Mexico and West Texas in 2015 and is an intensely competitive team.

3:16 reached the semifinals in four of the six tournaments in which they participated last year and the championship in the remaining two, winning in Roswell and coming in second in Abilene, Texas.

The team’s coaches, Ryan Letcher and David Hendrix, say they strive to teach their athletes a commitment to hard work, positive attitudes, and sportsmanship, with a primary goal of continually developing an awareness of Godly citizenship.

Artesia 3:16 is looking forward to continuing those pursuits in 2016 and is excited to start the travel season, which begins April 23-24 in Lubbock, Texas.

The coaches also want their players to understand the importance of working for some of the travel expenses incurred, which include uniforms, equipment, and registration/entry fees. Therefore, the team will be waiting tables from 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Henry’s BBQ.

The community is encouraged to support these young athletes in their efforts by bringing family, friends and appetites to Henry’s Friday.

The team wishes to thank Henry’s BBQ for allowing the use of their restaurant for the fundraiser and also thanks the City of Champions in advance for their support.
