Quilts have been made since the early years of 1976 and the members of the Yucca Cowbells and Wool Growers begin making a new quilt each year in January to have it ready for the Eddy County Fair week in June. The club has enjoyed making the variation of quilts to raffle off as prizes in effort to raise money then designating use of the proceeds for community organizations and service projects.
This year’s winners for the prizes are: Winning the quilt was Glenda Linder, of Carlsbad; Marie Birch of Artesia, won the sheep’s pelt; and Anna Netherlin won the cross.
