ARTESIA – Hayley Klein is announcing her candidacy for the Eddy County District 2 Commission seat.

The seat is currently held by Jon Henry, who has announced his intention to run for the New Mexico House of Representatives District 54 seat. This will be Klein’s first run for an elected position.

“I have been thinking about this for more than a year and have finally decided to jump in,” Klein said.

Klein is the executive director of the Artesia Chamber of Commerce, where she has worked for 17 years. She moved to Artesia in the late 1990s and has been an active member of the community since.

“While I have not served in an elected office before, I have always made the community a focal point of my life,” she said. “I have been active in community development most of my years here, and plan to continue to do so. I hope for the opportunity to represent District 2 in county business and representing the whole county statewide so that we can have the best for our residents and help the rest of the state understand what our county brings to the table.”
