The Artesia Police Department responded Saturday to a call in reference to a fight in progress at the Artesia Center. Upon arrival, officers noticed a red Ford Ranger, driven by Grado, attempting to leave the scene. Grado stopped after the arresting officer drew his weapon and gave verbal commands to stop the vehicle.
Upon investigation, the arresting officer found a straight razor, which Montoya claimed was his. Montoya allegedly told the authorities he had pulled out the razor because the third person involved in the altercation had a weapon, though the 17-year-old didn’t know what type of weapon it was.
