The holidays will be here before we know it. And while this time of year is set aside for us to be with our loved ones and to celebrate, crimes such as purse snatching, auto and residential burglaries or even the occasional criminal contact still occur.
That’s why the Artesia Police Department’s Community Policing Unit and School Resource Division is hosting a free, two-hour seminar on women’s safety, awareness and self-defense for women of all ages. The seminar will take place from 10 a.m. – noon Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Artesia Center. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
For Cpl. Kendall Richardson, who will be hosting the seminar, women’s safety and awareness is something he has been very passionate about throughout his law enforcement career.
“Law enforcement officers are trained how to protect themselves,” Richardson said. “But women who are not in law enforcement unfortunately don’t have that opportunity. Richardson will be discussing topics including day and night surroundings, home awareness, shopping alone, self-protection, driving alone and more.
