A 38-year-old Arizona man was arrested in Artesia on Tuesday after allegedly assaulting a woman he claimed he contacted on Craigslist for sex.

Brandon Stricker, of Surpize, Ariz., was arrested near the victim’s apartment on North 10th Street Tuesday night after police were dispatched to the area in reference to an unwanted subject call.

Artesia police arrived at the apartment and interviewed the victim. She told police that, earlier that evening, she was at home in her living room trying to find a movie to watch while her children slept in their bedroom. She told police that Stricker, whom she said she did not know, opened the door and entered her home. She said she asked him who he was and what he was doing there. She indicated that he then put a yellow cord around her neck.
