An arrest has been made regarding a Thursday night stabbing incident that left a man wounded.

Thirty-seven-year-old Austin P. Boone of Artesia was arrested Friday after- noon at his residence and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

According to the criminal complaint, the investigation began after police were called to the emergency room at Artesia General Hospital at approximately 1 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, in reference to a stabbing victim.

Upon arrival at the hospital, the on-duty doctor explained to the investigating detective that the injured male had sustained a puncture wound to his left side approximately three centimeters in length and that a sharp edge had penetrated the skin between the ribs.

The complaint stated that the victim, who was later transported to Lubbock for treatment, was highly intoxicated but able to give investigators a full account of the incident that led to his injury. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
