At last week’s meeting of the Artesia City Council, Hayley Klein of the Artesia Chamber of Commerce informed city officials of her intent to apply for status as an arts and cultural district for the city.

If approved, Artesia would become the seventh city to receive such recognition from the New Mexico Arts Commission. Other places that have received the designation include Central-Arts in Albuquerque, Los Alamos’ Creative District, Las Vegas, Raton Historic Downtown, Silver City and Taos. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
