Audition set for Missoula production of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’

ARTESIA — Aspiring young actors are invited to audition next month for the upcoming Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) production of “Jack and the Beanstalk.”

The audition will be held from 10 a.m. – noon Monday, June 17, at the Ocotillo Performing Arts Center and is open to students in grades 1-12. No advance preparation is necessary.

Those planning to audition are asked to arrive at 9:30 a.m. and be prepared to stay for the full two hours. Some cast members will be asked to stay for rehearsal immediately following the audition. Assistant directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week and take on essential backstage responsibilities.

The cost to audition is $30 per student, and space is available for up to 60 students. Among the roles to be cast are Jack, Mother, Milky White, the Magic Harp, Farmers, Merchants, the Giant, Jill, Circus Performers and Wonder Beans.

MCT touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery and props. MCT actors and directors will rehearse throughout the week leading up to the production, from 10 a.m. – noon and 12:15-2:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, through Friday, June 21.

“Jack and the Beanstalk” will be presented to the public at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at the OPAC. MCT’s Artesia residency is sponsored by the Artesia Arts Council.
