ALAMOGORDO -- The U.S. Forest Service has announced Thursday,...

On the corner of Roselawn and Quay avenues, Zia Dog Grooming Co. has set up shop to cater to Artesia’s canines’ needs.

The Grooming Co. began in owner and Artesia resident Tieler Corbell’s garage in 2022 and relocated to the downtown retail space in July of this year. The business is equipped with the essentials: doggy bath and grooming tables, well-ventilated drying kennels, jars of treats and bows, and select toys to keep the canines comfortable. The space is simple in setup, but the resulting day spa atmosphere keeps both pets and people at ease.

Corbell sought out dog grooming as a way to leave behind a 12-year career as a medical professional after the frustration and exhaustion of the COVID-19 whirlwind. To Corbell, dog grooming is equally as healing as the work she undertook before this life change, but as healthy for her as for those in her care. In addition to the pleasure of puppy company, Corbell also shared the ability to include her family in her work has been a highlight of entering the small business community.

Nugget, one of Corbell’s original garage clients was a neighbor who used to “run across the street and jump in the tub.” Her love for animals was evident as she addressed each pup in the room by name and eagerly described their personalities and preferences. Zia Grooming Co. accepts all breeds and even grooms some cats, provided they are safe to handle.

Appointments can be made by reaching out to Corbell directly at 575-703-7317 or via their Instagram page @ziagroomingco. All breeds welcome.
