A free lunch followed by a presentation on health care reform was given Monday by Carole Henry, associate vice president of underwriting for Lovelace Health Plan and president of the New Mexico and Rio Grande Association of Health Underwriters.
“What prompted me were the questions coming from small businesses, large businesses, brokers and other concerned or confused people,” Henry said. “I get a phone call at least once a day from people asking me what they need to do, how to become compliant, and what they need to be concerned or worried about. For nearly an hour and a half, Henry, who has more than 25 years of experience in the financial arena of insurance and health maintenance organizations, delved deeply into the various aspects of health care reform. Throughout her presentation, Henry discussed things like rising health insurance premiums; the goals health care reform hopes to address; how health care reform will affect the insurance industry; and how health care reform has been updated since it was first passed by Congress.
