Guardians of the Children and the Artesia Drug & Crime Coalition placed blue pinwheels adorned with the message “Every child matters” around the perimeter of The Derrick Floor at Sixth and Main streets this weekend in recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month. April’s awareness campaign aims to educate citizens on the factors that contribute to child abuse in hopes of prevention, as well as to encourage witnesses of child abuse to report it to the proper authorities.
