ARTESIA — The City of Artesia is informing the public of a pair of temporary facilities closures and a permanent change to a section of North Third Street.

Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 4, and continuing for the next two weeks, the shelter at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Complex will be closed to the public to replace cracked concrete.

Jaycee Park will also be closed to the public from 4-10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, for the Marquise’ Weast and Coach Mo Memorial Cross Country Meet.

Meanwhile, the city has announced that the portion of North Third Street from Main Street to West Texas Avenue will permanently become a one-way street beginning Wednesday, Oct. 25. The one-way direction will be north from Main to Texas.

In response to online queries regarding the decision, the city stated the change would “add more parking in the area.”
