Mayor Philip Burch awards certificates of appreciation to, from left, Shelby Marquez, Morgan Waldrip and Paxton Parriera during Tuesday’s Artesia City Council meeting. Marquez was recently crowned Miss Artesia, Waldrip was crowned Petite Miss Artesia, and Parriera was crowned Miss Artesia Outstanding Teen. Jordyn Woodburn, who was crowned Little Miss Artesia, and Alexis Fuentes, Miss Route 66, were not in attendance but also received recognition from the city.
