City council once again postponed a decision on Tuesday regarding an ordinance that would amend the municipal code to add rules for the use of polycarts in areas within the city where the use of dumpsters is not possible.

The ordinance was tabled during the April 26 meeting because the infrastructure committee wanted the opportunity to discuss the issue in greater depth.

Tuesday, the committee still was not prepared to tackle the matter, which has been under consideration since mid-January.

“We concluded that we didn’t have enough fences built around this ordinance,” Councilor J.B. Smith said. “As a committee we wanted to see boundaries displayed in the ordinance that did not give the solid waste supervisor the power to decide when and where polycarts are used.” … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
