The Artesia City Council took two steps closer to the construction of the new library at Tuesday night’s council meeting by passing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) and vacating property where it will eventually be constructed.
Additionally, the council also approved a resolution declaring “extreme or severe drought conditions,” which restricts the sale and use of fireworks, and discussed and adopted the 2012-13 Preliminary Budget. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
After quickly approving the council’s consent agenda, the meeting moved into a public hearing to discuss the vacation of land on and near Third Street, from Richardson Avenue to Main Street, and some surrounding, adjacent areas. It was an issue, as Mayor Phillip Burch pointed out, that had been in discussion for two previous meetings.
