Motor accidents in Chaves County, particularly on U.S. 285, have often been treated as a New Mexico State Police issue by the Chaves County Sheriff’s Office, according to Eddy County Sheriff Scott London, but that hasn’t stopped Eddy County deputies from traveling across county lines to render aid. Now, London wants approval of his department’s intervention in writing.
