ARTESIA — The Artesia Police Department (APD) is urging residents to err on the side of “better safe than sorry” and report any concerning incidents of suspicious activity.
In a Facebook post this week, the APD said it has seen several social media posts regarding individuals being confronted or attacked by strangers and of people seen acting in an odd manner in both the city limits and the county.
“When we, at the Artesia Police Department, receive these types of calls, we investigate the incident the best we can with the information that is given to us,” the post read. “Arrests can and have been made when these types of individuals are identified and probable cause for a crime has been established.”
The APD encourages residents to always be alert and observant when it comes to their surroundings and to call APD dispatch at 575-746-5000 or dial 911 if a concerning incident occurs. Citizens may also talk directly to an officer, in person or via phone, to provide details of what occurred.
