ARTESIA — An Artesia man was arrested Oct. 19 on charges related to the burglary of a vehicle and the theft of two firearms.

According to the criminal complaint, 29-year-old David Daniel Aguilar of Artesia entered a vehicle Oct. 13 and stole a Springfield pistol and a 12-gauge shotgun valued at less than $2,500, a fourth-degree felony.

Aguilar was released on a $7,500 bond and was scheduled for preliminary examination Wednesday before Judge Jimmy C. Foster in Artesia Magistrate Court.

Man arrested for firearm theft scheduled for jury trial

ARTESIA — An Artesia man arrested in October for allegedly stealing a firearm out of a vehicle has been scheduled for trial.

David Daniel Aguilar, 30, of Artesia, stands charged with larceny of a firearm (less than $2,500) and burglary of a vehicle after reportedly entering a vehicle on Oct. 13 and stealing a Springfield pistol and 12-gauge shotgun. Both charges are fourth-degree felonies.

Aguilar was released Oct. 20 from the Eddy County Detention Center on a $7,500 bond and was bound over to district court early this month. He is scheduled to appear for arraignment Dec. 26 before Judge AnneMarie C. Lewis in Fifth Judicial District Court and is slated for jury trial on Aug. 8, 2024.
