ECDC inmate dead in officer-involved shooting

CARLSBAD — An Eddy County Detention Center inmate is dead following an officer-involved shooting Monday in Carlsbad.
The incident occurred at approximately 10 a.m. Monday. A male subject, identified as Troy Kirkpatrick, 24, was a prisoner at the Eddy County Detention Center and was scheduled for a doctor’s appointment.
