Raymond Jones was in Roswell returning a U-Haul truck he had rented to move into his new trailer home.
The phone rang. The news was not good.
Jones’ old trailer home on the Hope Highway was engulfed in flames.
By the time the Artesia Fire Department and the Sun Country Volunteer Fire Department arrived to put out the fire, the damage was done. His trailer home was burnt to the ground and all of his belongings were destroyed.
Because Jones did not have insurance, there was no investigation into the fire. The blaze apparently started as a result of an electrical short in the kitchen or living room area. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
