Artesia’s fitness centers are expecting an influx of new visitors this month as Artesians resolve to become more physically healthy. While many such ventures begin with good intentions, gym owners say, it takes more than good intentions to get and keep the body you want.

“January gets extremely busy with all of the New Year’s resolution-ers,” said Carolyn Frederick, manager of the Artesia Racquet and Health Club on South Fourth Street. “I’ve been the manager here for 29 years, and it never changes.
