Jerry Cranford

Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at the Johnson Street Church of Christ in San Angelo, Texas, for Jerry Lee Cranford of San Angelo.

Cranford, 80, is with his Lord and Savior since Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017. He passed away at the home he shared with his wife of more than 57 years, Kaye Hubbard Cranford.

Graveside services will follow the funeral at the Fairmount Cemetery.

Jerry was born in Carlsbad to Mildred Frances Rowley and Leroy Dewey Cranford, and graduated from Artesia High School in 1955. He was known to sing the Bulldog fight song at the drop of a hat!

After receiving his BBA from Abilene Christian University, Jerry worked in the mortgage and loan, discount retail, and banking fields before discovering his passion for the cable television industry.

He was an avid tennis player, golfer and outdoorsman for much of his well-lived life. He has been actively involved in supporting his community through organizations such as the Optimist Club and the Wounded Warrior Project.

Jerry was honored to serve as a deacon for his church family and was buoyed by the support from his small group friendships. His uncanny ability to put people at ease meant he never knew a “stranger” for long.

Survivors include his cherished wife, Kaye, of San Angelo; daughter Shelley Cranford of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; son Bradley Gene Cranford and wife Cara Lee of Abilene, Texas; granddaughters Lindsay Lee Boone and husband Jason, and Riley Caraline Cranford, both of Abilene; grandson Caleb Bradley Cranford of Abilene; sister Janice Lou Gonzales of Carlsbad; brother Jon Garfield Cranford and wife Sylvia of Granbury, Texas; and several wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and very dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred F. Rowley; father Leroy D. Cranford; son-in-law David S. Strickland; dear friend and “runnin’ mate” Gene R. Wilborn; and beloved cousins, nephews and in-laws.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rust Street Ministries, 803 Rust St., San Angelo, TX, 76903; Pro2g Mission, 4658 Trevor Trail, Grapevine, TX, 76051, or pro2g.com; or the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, TX, 77210.

Arrangements are under the direction of Harper Funeral Home of San Angelo. Condolences may be expressed online at www.harper-funeralhome.com.
