Due to the shooting that occurred in a movie theater in Colorado during the midnight screening of “The Dark Knight Rises,” Land of the Sun Theater in Artesia decided to check bags and purses at the door and have an Artesia Police Department officer inside the theater this weekend for the first few screenings of “Iron Man 3.”
“Because of what happened at the Batman movie, we were asked by the theater to come in and provide a little extra security,” Commander Lindell Smith of the APD said. “So we have one officer assigned to the movie theater on Friday and Saturday night, that’s all.” … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
