ARTESIA — The Peter Hurd mural “The Future Belongs to Those who Prepare for It” will arrive in Artesia Wednesday, Aug. 28, for its installation in the new Artesia Public Library building.
The mural will make its way into town via Highway 82 between 1 and 3 p.m. and will be installed between 4 and 6 p.m. A pedestrian viewing area will be installed behind barricades on Quay Avenue between Roselawn Avenue and Third Street for those wishing to watch as the mural is lifted by crane and lowered through the library roof. All other areas adjacent the library will be closed to the public.
Cmdr. Lindell Smith of the Artesia Police Department also wishes the public to be aware that the area of Second Street and Richardson Avenue will also be closed between noon and 4 p.m. Wednesday and inaccessible to traffic. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
