ARTESIA — The Artesia Police Department (APD) is continuing to investigate a break-in that occurred early Wednesday morning at a local restaurant.

APD Cmdr. Pete Quinones said officers were dispatched just after 5 a.m. today to Wings, 402 N. First St., after employees arrived to find unauthorized entry had been made to the building. Police cleared the building and noticed that both a burglary and criminal damage had taken place.

Quinones said the APD’s Criminal Investigation Division was called, and a crime scene investigator was sent to process the scene. Quinones also said the APD was able to identify a potential suspect. The male individual was found sleeping inside a nearby vehicle.

“The suspect was subsequently arrested for separate charges involving the vehicle he was found in,” said Quinones. “Detectives are actively working on this case.”

Quinones urged anyone with potential information regarding the incident to call the APD Criminal Investigation Division at 575-746-5000.
