The City of Artesia’s new economic development director figures to have his hands full.

Michael Blunt will be working closely with the Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Artesia Economic Development Corp. to bring big business to a small town.

The newly created position is the first of its kind in Artesia.

“In conversations between the City and the Chamber, we were looking at what’s happening in communities around us and realizing that there’s not one person or one entity that focuses on economic development all the time,” Hayley Klein, executive director of the Chamber, said. “There were a bunch of people taking hit-and-miss stabs at economic development and not being able to dedicate the time for follow-through.” … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
