ARTESIA — Officers from the New Mexico Motor Transportation Division and the New Mexico State Police responded Monday morning to a fatal two-vehicle wreck at the intersection of U.S. 285 and Derrick Road between Carlsbad and Loving.

Initial investigation on scene determined a 2010 Kenworth commercial motor vehicle with an attached trailer, driven by Carl Deisher, 47, of Artesia, was travelling southbound on U.S. 285 approaching the intersection with Derrick Road when it attempted to turn westbound and moved into the path of a southbound 2011 Honda driven by Oralia Lara, 50, of Carlsbad. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
