Atoka volunteer firefighters move quickly to remove the hood of a silver pickup in order to extricate the driver inside. The pickup rolled off Seven Rivers Highway near mile marker 60 this morning. Aside from the Atoka Volunteer Fire Department, Artesia EMS, the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office and the New Mexico State Police also responded to the one-vehicle accident. According to ECSO Capt. Jeff Zuniga, once the victim was taken out of the vehicle, he was airlifted to Lubbock, Texas, with a severe laceration to the head. The cause of the accident is currently being investigated by the State Police. The driver’s name has not been released. Rob Larson – Daily Press
