Customers of Pecos Valley of New Mexico LLC, an affiliate of Community Health Systems Professional Services Corporation (CHSPSC), are receiving letters from the company advising them their personal data may have been compromised in a June cyber attack.
Pecos Valley, which provides medical services, is informing patients who have been referred to its clinics in the past. According to the company, the attacker was “an advanced persistent threat” group originating from China which used sophisticated malware and technology to attack Pecos Valley’s systems. The attacker bypassed the company’s security measures and successfully copied and transferred some of the data stored there, Pecos Valley spokespersons said. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
