Victor Martinez has officially declared his candidacy for the office of Eddy County sheriff.

Martinez has achieved numerous accolades over the course of his career. His service with the U.S. Marine Corps, including a tour in Iraq, culminated in an honorable discharge, laying the foundation for his exemplary law enforcement career.

He has been the recipient of two Medals of Valor, two Citation Awards from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and a Certificate of Commendation from the Office of the District Attorney. His bilingual proficiency and DWI Award underscore his commitment to community safety.

While Martinez retired from the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office in 2022, he says his “fervent desire to serve and protect endures.” He has garnered endorsements from the Carlsbad Police Association Union, Carlsbad Firefighters Union and Latinos for United Conservative Action (LUCA), and his cumulative endorsements represent more than 600 years of combined experience in various areas of public safety.
